Vascular anomalies are a relatively young field, and correct classification remains the starting point for appropriate treatment. This lecture explores the evolution of the modern approach, distinguishing vascular tumors from vascular malformations and showing why the diagnosis directly determines management.
Particular attention is given to infantile hemangiomas, including the role and limitations of beta-blocker therapy, as well as potentially dangerous hepatic involvement. The lecture also moves into generalized lymphatic disorders, explaining normal lymphatic flow and how its disruption can lead to complex systemic disease. Along the way, clinical reasoning takes priority over simply memorizing genetic or classification schemes.
