What happens after the graft or flap has survived? That is where the longest part of recovery begins. This lecture explores a multidisciplinary approach to rehabilitation after burns, soft-tissue trauma and reconstructive procedures, built around real clinical cases rather than theory alone.

The discussion follows the patient through early postoperative positioning, protection of grafts and flaps, joint mobilization, respiratory exercises, splinting, compression, silicone therapy, scar mobilization and progressive functional training. A recurring challenge is preventing contractures—not by treating one isolated scar, but by maintaining the function of the whole body.

Particularly valuable are the practical details drawn from complex pediatric and war-related trauma cases, including long-term rehabilitation, telemedicine follow-up and surprisingly simple tools that can turn rehabilitation into purposeful play. The Q&A adds another layer: when rehabilitation is no longer enough, how timing changes scar revision, and why there is rarely a single universal protocol for every patient.
